How can I tell if a journal is peer-reviewed?

Answer

Go to the detailed record of the article you found in the CINAHL or Medline database by clicking on the title of the article in your search results.  Click on the title of the journal next to "Source" to read more information about it. This page tells you how often the journal is published and where the publisher is located. On the last line of the publication details page it will state if the journal has a policy of sending articles to be peer-reviewed.

You can also open CINAHL or Medline and click on the Publications link in the blue bar at the top left. From here you can search for the journal title. Selecting the journal title will open the Publication Details page. Look at the end of the page to see if the publication is peer reviewed.

If the journal title is not listed in CINAHL or Medline, another option is to find the home website of the journal publisher. The website should feature additional details, including whether or not the journal is peer reviewed.
