How can I find articles written by a nurse?

Answer

In the CINAHL Complete database you can limit your search to articles written by a nurse. In the Advanced Search screen, scroll down until you are in the "Limit your results" section. About midway in this section, there is a box to check in the right column to limit your search to articles where the "First Author is a Nurse" and in the left column, there is a box to check where "Any Author is a Nurse."  CINAHL is the only database that contains this limiter.  You will not find it in Science Direct, Medline, etc.

However, you need to be aware that this information is not always comprehensive or up to date. Many of the most recent articles and research studies that were authored by a nurse will not show up when this checkbox is used.  You may need to leave the “First Author is Nurse” checkbox blank when entering your search terms, and then search your results by hand to find the author’s credentials, which are usually listed on the first page of the article’s full text.
